Magic White Powder

Epsom Salt

Is anyone else sore yet? I got out of bed this morning and my knees almost gave in. Going up and down the stairs is quite the challenge and don’t even get me started on trying to pick up my kids. I will never again under-estimate how bad running in bad shoes can be.

My muscles are recovering kind of fast thanks to a method I learned from an old Indian Medicine man. I don’t have time to do the whole Epsom salt soak. Instead, I put dry Epsom salt in the blender until it is powder, then I put it in my socks for about an hour. I also have to kick up my water intake. It seems to do the trick.

I once got pulled over with powdered Epsom salt in my car. I was praying the cop wouldn’t notice the bag of white powder in the back seat.  He would have tested it and I would have been fine, but I was in hurry at the time. Now I wish he had noticed it. This would be a way better story.

  1. I don’t know how much time you have to put in for recovery after each of your runs, but if you have an extra 20-25 min I would suggest ice baths. I know it sounds awful, but it REALLY does work. I have added a link so you don’t have to take my word for it.
